KeaneonStyle at Harvey's Point Hotel

KeaneonStyle at Harvey's Point
I have say a huge thanks the staff at Harvey’s Point who gave me the warmest of welcomes for #keaneonstylehp. Thanks to Noel Cunningham an absolute gentleman, who made sure I was comfortable and relaxed after my long trip from Galway.   I extend a huge thank you to Lorraine Keane for inviting me to be part of her amazing event and experience the whole keaneonstyle atmosphere.

My guest Sinead Carroll from YummyMummy was great company for the evening, we certainly kept the show on social media for spot prizes!! I was delighted to introduce her to the wonders of Harvey's Point.

Having got over the shock of leaving my dress at home!!! I made a quick stop at Magees in Donegal town where I picked up a glitzy silver top with very smart black trousers.  I was so comfortable and felt great I was quiet happy not to have my dress!!

The evening began with a glass of bubbly and every guest received a packed goody bag. With a fabulous buffet dinner the event got off to a great start.  “Keane on Style” included a glamorous fashion show featuring the new collection from Deborah Veale who opened the show, McElhinneys, Magees, Divine Boutique, Aria V Jewellery, The Style Room  Irish Designer Marion Murphy CooneyPearls & Lace showing us beautiful bridal and party dresses. I showcased my couture Suzie Mahony Hats and Headpieces.
There was no shortage of ‘experts’ with lots of tips on skincare from Peggy Stringer, Monkstown Laser Skin Clinic, Dr. Garrett Brady, Lowell Medical Clinic, Non-invasive treatment Ultherapy and Rita from ATIR Shapewear.

We were treated to hair demonstrations from The award winning Hair Stylist Rossa Danagher, Rossano’s Hair Group, Donegal, Ballyshannon and Janice Doherty, SometimesJenny showed us how to apply a make-up party look.
Throughout the entire evening there were lots of spot prizes, table prizes and the raffle, I event won our table prize Shapewear from ATIR.  The fashion show was modelled by Lockdown Models, a delight to work with.

Keeping Stylish with Winter Hats

Keeping Stylish with Winter Hats

With the clocks changing this weekend it is time to get your winter wardrobe sorted.  It certainly is a challenge to get dressed up for those chilly days and still manage to look stylish and seasonally appropriate.  We all have winter coats or jackets, winter wool coat in classic black or camel, leather coats or jackets.  Winter styling is more about how to put the outfit together and finish it than having the right items in your wardrobe.

Many forget that it is the accessories that really finish your look for winter.   Hats, belts, boots or bags, any or all off these can change your look and also bring a look together to look stylishly winter!!  This red beret style is handmade trimmed with a simple twist and available in many colours in wool felt.

The Winter colour palate is huge, when you look out the window from rusts, greys, deep greens, wine, burgundy, black, rusts and lots more.  All these tones work together, so have fun when choosing your look.   To complete that winter coat or jacket it is a must to have some accessories.  From handmade wool felt designs available at my studio or why not try a bespoke hat designed to match your winter coat.  Wool felt hats will last for season after season.

Not forgetting the Winter Race Season.  Again a beautiful felt hat will look amazing on any Best Dressed Lady and don't forget those leather gloves or a wide belt and umbrella.   This burnt orange felt design is trimmed with pheasant feathers, mounted on elastics and very comfortable and stylish to wear.

There are a huge variety of fun and stylish hats out there from high street to designers.   A winter hat always looks beautiful on a lady so why not try it out this season.  Play around with your accessories whilst staying warm!!

London Fashion Week: Suzie Mahony Designs SS16

The day finally arrived to head off to London Fashion Week.  After months of anticipation it was very exciting to be finally boarding the plane with my complete collection safely in the hold.

Arriving at the prestigious Hilton London Paddington where my collection will be shown with the House of iKons Show alongside other designers from around the globe.

The event was produced by Savita Kaye in aid of the Princes Trust.  Hosts for the event were TV Celebrity Johny Pach and Cinde Rella Renowned DJ.

The experience of such an event was amazing.  Connecting with buyers, fellow designers, top models, styling my look for the runway during rehearsals and overall backstage buzz was unique.  It was a constant hive of activity.  Before the show I was interviewed by various TV channels including SKY where the event will be featured on Fashion One!!

I was delighted to have with me the fabulous Mary Lee from Catwalk Modelling Agency complete my runway moment as my Brand Ambassador.

My SS16 'Butterfly' Collection was designed in vibrant strong colours in beautiful silk to convey the movement and elegance of the Butterfly.  Trimmed with silk twists in complementing tones the collection was modelled with swimsuits to emphasise the designs.

The response was amazing, the crowd loved the collection and the unique way it was presented. Many commented on the 'elegance' and 'colour' of the collection and how each piece was 'a work of art'.  It was fantastic from such an amazing show on the runway for my very first London Fashion Week.

I look forward to my next international show!!

Hats for Winter Weddings

Hats for Winter Weddings

I am often asked what hat is most suitable for a family wedding during winter.

I begin with what style suits my client and her outfit.  The shape and style of your hat is the most important aspect.  Details such as colours and textures can be incorporated on any hat.  I work on different textures that complement the outfit, whether the hat needs to have some fabric matching the dress or simply dyed to match in the millinery straws.

Hats are made using lots of different straw weaves, silks or felt.

This navy hat is trimmed with beautiful pink silk flowers and edge ribbon which soften the look and brighten the hat.  Ladies want to look stunning for their family wedding.  The overall hat size should sit elegantly with your outfit.  Try not to wear a hat which looks too fussy or too big.

Having your hat dyed to match really makes a difference when complementing your wedding outfit. Here you can see the Green Star Wave Hat which I have created dyed to match the same colour dress. For this look the other accessories are a soft gold which look great with the green giving a warm elegant finish.

This raspberry 'wedding guest' hat is again dyed to match all in Raspberry which brings out one of the key colours in the dress.  This colour is very popular this season as its rich and bright without looking 'Summery'.  This piece is created from millinery straws with feather trim.

Allow time for your Milliner to design your perfect hat.  Once you have your outfit purchased then schedule your appointment for all your accessories incl hat, dyed to match shoes/bag and jewellery.  All available now at Suzie Mahony Designs Studio  Call 0861948315 for an appt.

Racing Hats 2015

Ascot is in full swing this week and the Dress Code has strict rules about your hat or headpiece size.  It must have a base not less than 4" to cover the crown of your head.  Hats are definitely back in style this year for the racing season.

Let your hat complete your overall look.  Allow as much time as you can for designing the perfect hat.  With stunning new fabrics and colours this season the range of hats available caters for every taste.

My new collection at Suzie Mahony Designs features beautiful soft silk weaves which are very clean cut and elegant.

The overall look is striking regardless of the size of your hat.

We all desire for 'something different' and the ss15 collection delivers.  By combining handcrafted hats with great textures, all available dyed to match your ensemble.

Bridal Headpieces

Your wedding day is the most important day of your life and shopping for your Wedding Gown is an event to be enjoyed and celebrated.

Finding the perfect dress is a moment you won't forget.  Every girl dreams of what she may like to wear on her wedding day, enjoy trying on styles until you have the perfect dress for you.

The neckline and the back of the dress will guide you for jewellery, long delicate chains on the back are stunning but can be lost behind a long veil.

Pearls and diamonds are a popular choice, when you try on jewellery take a photo of different options and this will help you decide.  Every girl needs a little 'sparkle' on her wedding day.

When you have your dress and decided on your hairstyle then your headpiece can be designed.

The headpiece can be elaborate or delicate as you desire.  I discuss different designs with clients from the dress design and the overall hair style.

The 'swan lake' style here is beautiful with strapless dresses and your hair up soft away from your neckline.

The 'birdcage' can be designed in a number of ways to complement a bride.  With or without flowers or beaded embellishments.

With a wide selection you can secure your piece with a headband, comb or pins.   The perfect piece will be comfortable to wear finish your overall 'Bridal Look' for your special Day.
